KAUAI

Leif and I visited Kauai for the first time this week and it was incredible. I think it may be my favorite Hawaiian island I have been to yet! It was our first trip together of 2018 and it was a quick one, so we didn't get to do a whole lot but I wanted to share where we ate and what we did.

We stayed in Kapa'a and I really liked the area. There were lots of little food trucks, restaurants and shops close by! We booked our hotel super last minute but ended up really liking it-it was called Waipouli Beach Resort.

We met up with Julia, a cute photographer who lives on Kauai, to take some photos and had a blast! She is so talented and was so kind to offer to take some pics for us! They are some of my favorite photos ever.

We had so much fun skating around, and playing in the ocean! It's not often that Leif and I get photos taken of both of us on trips unless we are with friends so this was awesome.

Okay, now let's talk about our favorite FOOD SPOTS:

Eat Healthy Cafe. By far my favorite place we ate! We went there for breakfast twice and if we were in Kauai longer I would have for sure gone again! Fav things on the menu:

-Avocado toast

-Tofu scramble

-Not So Simple Acai bowl (with chia seeds + peanut butter on top).

-Chocolate chip cookies.

-The smoothies are amazing as well!

Kountry Kitchen. It has more of a country/home vibe. This isn't a vegan place but there are vegan options. I got the avocado toast here as well, and I had a bite of the coconut French toast which was really good. There were soooo many options, it was honestly kind of overwhelming! But I feel like anyone could find something they like at this place!

Wailua Shave Ice. So so good! Fresh and amazing and topped with fruit. Definitely recommend!

Scorpacciata Pizza. Really good + they have amazing fries! It is right next to Wailua Shave Ice in Kapa'a.

Kalalea Juice Hale. Yummy smoothies + acai!

There were sooo many food recommendations that we weren't able to check out, but I wanted to list them here:

-Puka Dogs

-Bubba's Burgers

-Street Burger

-Sushi Girl

-Wishing Well Shave Ice

-Aloha Juice Bar

-Kauai Juice Company

ADVENTURE TIME:

For the first few days I was actually feeling sick (worst cramps I have ever had!!!!!) which was a huge bummer because I really wasn't in the mood to explore. But the last few days we did some fun stuff! One of our first stops was Wailua Falls. We didn't hike down to the falls because we wanted to make sure to get to our next destination before sunset, but the view from the road is pretty amazing!

The highlight of the trip for me was the Kalalau Trail. We drove to the Kalalau Lookout, then ended up hiking the trail for a few miles. The views were INCREDIBLE. We got lucky because it was a sunny, clear day so we could see everything perfectly! We took some photos and when I was editing them later, it literally looked like I was standing in front of a painting. So amazing.

On our way up to the Kalalau Lookout, we stopped by Waimea Canyon lookout which was amazing as well. It reminded me a bit of Arizona. It was so so beautiful! We really wanted to take a helicopter tour while we were on the island but unfortunately everything was booked for the dates we were there!

Another thing we did was watch the sunset at Hanalei Bay which was really beautiful. We didn't bring our camera so unfortunately I don't have any pictures of it, but I would definitely say to head over there for sunset one night if you have the chance!

Here is a quick list of other things recommended to us that we didn't get a chance to do:

-Bout tour around Nā Pali Coast.

-Dinner Cruise

-Poipu Beach

-Queen's Bath (careful of high tide)

-Zip lining

-ATV Tours

-Secret Beach

Thanks again to everyone who sent us recommendations! We had the best time- I am so excited to visit again some day!
